Bagged & Ready: The Collegiate Edit

These uni bags make the grade. I don’t know about anyone else, but finding the perfect college bag that combines practicality and style feels like a near-fruitless endeavor. Clothing packed up to move into my dorm? Check. Kitchen items? Already boxed up and ready to go. The school bag has been selected, and is it ready for the first day of classes? Not exactly. It’s the same old story each time. “I like this one, but it doesn’t fit my laptop and my other supplies.” Or maybe it’s “This bag is so cute, but it’s going to hurt my poor shoulder carrying it.” We shouldn’t have to sacrifice style for functionality, and vice versa. As such, I’ve compiled a list of the bags on my radar for this semester. To any readers in corporate or the like, these picks apply to you too! Who doesn’t need a bag with a large capacity and stylish charm these days?

Make it stand out

Pick #1: Le Pliage Original L Tote Bag in “Paper” from Longchamp ($155.00)I conducted some field research before putting together this list, and I was stunned by the amount of Longchamp lovers out there! The long handles make it easy to wear over a thick coat (We are heading into fall and winter, after all!), and believe me when I say it’s roomy. For those of us with a beefy laptop, it’s often a struggle to find a bag big enough to house it. The Le Pliage tote has you covered, and it leaves plenty of extra room for other items in the process!

Pick #2: Willow Tote Bag in “Refined Pebble Leather/Silver/Black” from Coach ($350.00) If you like to have everything in its own little section of your bag, the Willow tote is a fantastic choice! This bag sports three sections due to the zipped compartment in the middle of the bag, which is perfect for keeping things separate but organized. You can’t go wrong with its elegant silhouette and excellent craftsmanship, either!

Pick #3: Nylon Shoulder Bag in “Candy Apple Red” from BAGGU ($54.00) If you’re looking for an option that doesn’t break the bank, this is my personal pick! I used this shoulder bag from BAGGU throughout the entire spring semester, and it never failed me. Don’t let her appearance fool you. She’s small, but mighty. Seriously, I was able to fit so much in this bag, and the best part? My shoulder didn’t suffer. I love it because it’s a bit slouchy, but it becomes sturdier once you fill it and won’t topple over in the middle of class. It comes in a ton of different colorways, but this bold red shade happens to be my favorite!

Pick #4: Canvas Tall Tote Bag in “Natural” from MUJI ($19.90) If you tend to enjoy the simplicity of a canvas tote, MUJI has a wide variety of choices to mull over. I get so many of my school supplies from MUJI for its low prices and quality, and I didn’t realize they had such a wide variety of totes, bags and backpacks available! This tall tote is my favorite of the bunch due to its convenient size and structure. It’s got pockets on the inside and outside of the bag, and its minimalistic design can match pretty much any outfit. Versatile and affordable? What’s not to love?
