DON ANGIE: Worth the Wait?
Can a lasagna really be worth a waitlist? Well let us tell you…
So, how did we possibly get a reservation at the infamous Don Angie? Well considering we had no reservation, we got to the restaurant at 3:50pm almost 40 minutes before opening to put our name down on the waitlist hoping we could get a table AND WE DID!
And OH MY GOD… From the food, to the service everything was fabulous. Ruby and I are strong believers that bad service in a restaurant can really taint our dining experience, as no one wants their pasta with a side of unwarranted rudeness…
This famous lasagna for two was truly as iconic as everyone says it is. As soon as we sat, Ruby and I ordered some of their famous dishes such as the lasagna for 2, the stuffed garlic flatbread, the chrysanthemum salad and one of their more unique dishes, the sourdough pasta cacciatore.
This chrysanthemum salad was so light and delicious the only thing Ruby and I kept repeating as we ate it was…
The amount of cheese they grate on top was a dream. To our readers and to those always skeptical to pay for a $20 salad, you may wonder… How good could this salad really be? And is it really worth the $21? Well we are here to tell you IT ABSOLUTELY IS.
The sourdough pasta is delicious as well and has great flavor without getting overwhelmed by the olives.
Needless to say Don Angie did not disappoint and we were both pleasantly surprised when having our first bite as the chicken was tender, the pasta had the same texture as (sujebi) which is a korean hand pulled dough pasta.
So just keep that in mind when ordering this, but otherwise, as a dessert it was perfectly creamy and not overly sweet. The layers in this tiramisu was what we appreciated in this dessert as the caramel along with the crispy feuilletine added great texture and depth to this dessert.
So if you can get a resy or are wondering if the wait is really worth it... We promise you that Don Angie will be your next perfect bite here in New York City.
