Truffle Turtle Chips
If you’re a truffle lover, you’re going to go crazy for these!! “Turtle Chips”, which have grown in popularity in the last couple of years, have grown their following since they started releasing a large variety of flavors like seaweed, lime, churro, etc. Turtle Chips have an interesting unique shape and texture; 4 layers of thin chips puffed together. Although I’ve truly enjoyed every single one of their flavors, the truffle one is what I always go back for. Every bite is strongly packed & coated with truffle salt so be aware, these are addicting!!
Shrimp Chips (새우강)
Saeukkang, aka shrimp chips, is a classic Korean snack that’s been around since the 70s! All ages love and enjoy them. I guess we all love the crunchy thin texture along with the flavor of shrimp. The chip itself is so simple: flour, shrimp and salt — basically the perfect road trip snack. This timeless snack continues to stay alive, especially since more and more people are finding out about it (& loving it!!)
Honey Butter Chips
Honey Butter Chips took over the world in 2014 because the flavor combination was so innovative at the time! These chips are sweet with a small aftertaste of salt and an accompanied richness from the butter — so different than your “average” chips. They are also perfectly thin and crunchy (everything you expect from a perfect potato chip)! Once you open a bag, the smell of butter will put you in a trance so expect to finish it (& lick your fingers clean after!!)
Honey Twisted Snacks 꿀꽈배기
Here’s another old-time classic Korean snack (that especially the older generations and younger kids love!!) — basically every Korean grew up eating this! The snack is so fun to look at; twisted strips that resemble crinkle-cut fries made from flour that’s covered in honey. They’re not too sweet and have a great, satisfying crunch to them so many people of all ages find them enjoyable (& very nostalgic).
Choco Pie
Choco Pie, consisting of two small round layers of cake with marshmallow filling and a chocolate covering, is a classic sweet treat that Koreans are obsessed with! Imagine a whoopie pie but way less sweet. They have been so popular ever since their release in the 70s. There are also many ways to enjoy a choco pie! I grew up always microwaving it a bit so that the marshmallow & chocolate melts but now I love them frozen (cause I love the chew). To be honest, it just depends on my mood but I always satisfy my sweet cravings with this affordable yet delicious treat!
